Meet the Staff

Patrick Marchand, CEO

What’s better than going to camp during the summer?  Try growing up at camp.  Those many years of running around trying all the activities gave me a huge insight into how amazing camp is and how it ran.  Ever since then, I knew I wanted to be a Camp Director.  So, I got my Bachelor’s degree at Springfield College and then went on to direct YMCA Camp Torymca for six years.  I returned to Mohawk as Director seven years ago.  Since then, I met my wife Amy at Mohawk, and couldn’t be happier.  I plan to continue on the family legacy here.  As our song goes, I’m a Mohawker born, and Mohawker bred!

Alison Irwin, Associate Director

When I started as a camper at Mohawk in 2006, I never imagined the impact camp would make on my life. Over the course of the past 12 years, I was a camper, a CIT, a counselor and a unit leader at camp! When I realized this was something I could see doing for the rest of my life, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy, gratitude and excitement for the future. After high school I attended the The University of Arizona where I earned a degree in leadership, and continued to teach Kindergarten for a year before returning to Mohawk full time! I am so excited that I get to use my experience and education to continue to give back to the wonderful camp community that shaped who I am today!

Zsuzsanna Petro, Support Staff Director

I’m from Hungary and graduated college 2 years ago, with a Bachelors in Recreation management. I have been coming to Camp for 5 years now and I’m proud to be one of the international crew, who’s keep coming back.  Although I’ve never been a camper, Mohawk changed my life and I would love to show people around the world the impact that Camp Mohawk can have!

Amanda Ryan, Associate Director

I graduated with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and after a few years found a career in a place that has always been a part of me since I was young. I started Camp Mohawk as a Camper in 2002, decided to come back as a counselor in 2012, and in 2015 joined as a full time director. Who knew that one summer camp could impact my life in such a huge way? That is exactly what it did, and now I get to help continue spreading the spirit to many new staff and campers.

Hannah Myers, Program Director

I have been lucky enough to spend 12 summers at my favorite place in the world, as a camper, CIT, counselor, and unit leader. This summer I am SO excited to return as the program director! I lived in New Orleans for the past four years while I attended Tulane University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health. In the fall, I will be attending New York University to pursue my Master’s Degree. I can’t wait for another amazing summer at Camp Mohawk, and to help create the impact that Mohawk had on me for other girls in years to come.

Jess Pearson, Media Director

I’m Jess, I’m from the UK and I’m the media director here at camp! I’ve been studying digital filmmaking since I was 16 years old and am currently going into my final year at the Northern Film School in the UK, specializing in Cinematography and Production Design. Although this is my first year at Camp in the US, I was a camper at a YMCA camp back home and have always love camps energy and atmosphere!

Summer Staff

Each cabin is under the leadership of mature, caring counselors. Many of our counselors have come up through the ranks of Mohawk as campers, CIT, Junior Counselor, and then Counselor. Others are recruited throughout the United States and other English speaking countries such as England, Ireland, Scotland, and Australia. Counselors are selected based on their experience with children, energy, creativity, and a desire to be a positive role model for children. All staff are required to participate in an intensive pre-season on-site training.
