Recently some of our Mohawker’s have been doing some awesome things within their communities. At Mohawk we hope each and every girl gains the confidence and determination to go out into their own communities to make a difference, either in their own life or in the lives of others. This past month we have gotten to hear about some of the amazing accomplishments our Mohawkers have achieved, and we can’t wait to share them all with you!
Charlotte Lieber recently went on a trip to build houses in Guatemala! She went with the nonprofit organization Builders Beyond Borders, an organization that brings high school students to different countries to give back to communities affected by natural disasters, and poverty. She has worked with this organization locally as well to clean up public spaces, and natural reserves. Their main goal on this trip was to build houses for those who were displaced by a volcano eruption earlier this year. We are so impressed by what Charlotte is doing not only for her own community, but for others in need.
One of our counselors Izzy Siebert has been studying abroad over in London, England. She has been able to do a lot of the “touristy things” throughout the city, and really explore the area. Unfortunately the Big Ben has been under construction while she has been there, but she has been able to really take in the city of London. Not only is she taking advantage of all the wonderful sites, she also has been working in a school while over there. She is learning so much about education, and also how the UK runs their school system. We wish we could be over there with Izzy, but for now we’ll just live vicariously through her photos!
